Congleton Young Farmers have teamed up with local agricultural machinery supplier, ASHBROOK, to help them walk the tightrope to victory at the Cheshire Show.
Each year the Young Farmers clubs of Cheshire go head-to-head in a float decorating competition held at the Show. Previous years have seen themes such as ‘decades’ and the ‘Olympics’, with this year being ‘musicals’.
Congleton YF, were thrown the challenge of putting on a show of a lifetime, with the ‘The Greatest Showman’ theme. Months of hard work go into making the float come alive. It starts with a conversation between Sarah Nixon of the Young Farmers and ASHBROOK Group Marketing Manager, Stephanie Dean. Here they discuss how the theme may play out in tractor form.
ASHBROOK work closely with Signs Express in Stoke. Where Craig Tiley, MD, turns his hand to making the design come to life on the tractor. ‘This particular design started off as a lion, but we soon realised that it wasn’t translating well into tractor form. From now on, it went through various iterations of a circus big top, starting with vintage colouring, until we landed upon the brightly-themed version you can see. This colouring matched the float that the Young Farmers were producing at the same time’, explains Craig.
‘I particularly like the ringmaster leading the show on the windows. Signs Express were able to make him out of contravision vinyl. This means he’s see-through and can therefore stay in situ. Allowing him to continue to put on the greatest show when he goes to his permanent hire home at Bidlea Dairy’, adds Stephanie.
‘The float is the sole creation of the Young Farmers. It looked fabulous all decked out in bright ribbon and adorned by the Young Farmers themselves in their creative costumes. Costumes that thoroughly embrace the theme, proudly displaying the ‘this is me’ mentality’, continues Stephanie.
Sarah reports on the day, ‘unfortunately, we didn’t win, it turns out it was never enough, but as always, we had great fun creating the float and costumes. It’s a great representation of what the Young Farmers is all about, teamwork, creativity and above all- fun. It allows us to live out a million dreams’
‘We’d like to thank ASHBROOK for their continued support. Each year they rise to the weird and wonderful challenges we throw them and with the hard work Sign Express put in, the tractor always looks superb. We’ll see you on the other side in 2022!’
