As of the 1st April 2022, the government has banned the use of red diesel in the majority of the sectors we serve. Therefore, from this date, all customers, unless exempt*, must operate using white diesel. To reflect this change of use our fuel charge, where applicable, will be increasing to £2.00+VAT**. This price will be monitored and will fluctuate to reflect market prices.
Customers who fill up during off-hiring must do so using white diesel to ensure that there are no traces of red diesel in the fuel tank. Should any machines be returned containing anything other than white diesel, customers will be charged for the tank to be drained and refilled.
In line with HMRC guidance notes there is likely to be a short period between the rules changing and the rebated fuel in the internal tank or engine being used up. Therefore, for the first few days after the change, no charge will be made if proof of white diesel being used to fill the machine is supplied on request.
Thank you for your support during this period of change brought about by government policy. Should you have any questions please chat to our hire desks, who will be more than happy to help.
*Please visit the HMRC website if you wish to understand whether you fall into an exemption category. If you work in agriculture, this may be the case.
** Subject to change, depending on market forces at the time of use.
