The show played host to 9 floats this year all celebrating 100 years of the BBC. Congleton YF were thrown the challenge of depicting top BBC drama, Casualty, through the ages. Their busy and cleverly designed float featured everything from a nasty car accident to a tribute to the hard-working real-life NHS staff.
Stephanie Dean, ASHBROOK Group Marketing Manager, picks up the story, ‘it’s always fun to receive the phone call from the Young Farmers tasking us with their next weird and wonderful challenge. This year the concept for the tractor design had already been settled upon, with the group requiring an ambulance for their theme and a fast turnaround was needed to hit the deadline.’
‘Our partner in each of the designs we have done are Signs Express in Stoke and once again, they pulled out all the stops for us.’
‘Craig Tiley, Signs Express MD, was quick with the artwork and moved their already hectic work schedule around so that his team could do their usual excellent job on the tractor transformation. For this, we’re most grateful.’
Craig goes on to say, ‘this design was one of the simpler ones we’ve done, but no less fun. We started by agreeing on the colour of the hatching pattern. Beginning with the traditional ambulance colours of green and white, we quickly progressed onto red and white which worked more sympathetically with the colour of the CASE IH Puma 165.’
‘The hub caps are always the most difficult element to fit, but they make such a difference to the design and allowed ASHBROOK to add their own message of thanks to NHS staff, so it was important to get them right.’
Stephanie adds, ‘both Signs Express and ASHBROOK are really pleased with how the tractor came out and it’s great for us both to be able to support this youth organisation again. Farming can be an isolating profession, but the Young Farmers is a fantastic charitable organisation, which brings people together and creates important bonds that last a lifetime.’
Winnie Bullock, Chairlady for Congleton Young Farmers, concludes ‘ASHBROOK always do an excellent job supporting us with their hire tractors and rising to the challenge we set, so thank you to them and Signs Express. We worked hard on the float we created, and the decorated tractor tops it off nicely. This year, we’re very proud to say that we came third, so the hard work paid off. Once the show is over it’s fun to see the tractors working in the Cheshire fields and lanes in the following years.’
The sharp-eyed amongst you may still see the ASHBROOK cow and big top tractors going about their business locally. You can now add an ambulance to this mix, but fingers crossed it won’t be needed in any real emergencies!
