‘Each year we wait with bated breath to see what madness the Young Farmers will unleash with their Annual Float Competition at the Royal Cheshire Show’, begins Stephanie Dean, Group Marketing Manager for ASHBROOK Ltd.
‘This year was no exception with the overall theme of cartoons being set. Congleton Young Farmers, our partner club, was tasked with representing Looney Tunes and the chase was on’, continues Steph.
‘Remembering all the excellent characters which could feature was a trip down memory lane and many a Looney Tunes catchphrase could be heard coming from the ASHBROOK offices. Along with fierce debate over whom from the list of 105 characters should feature.’
‘After discussions with Signs Express- Stoke regarding what is required, it’s over to them to bring the characters to life and deal with the practicalities of wrapping the CASE IH Puma 240 CVX. This type of tractor is a mainstay of the ASHBROOK tractor hire fleet and offers a good bonnet and body shape for wrapping.’
‘And what a great job they did. Yosemite Sam, Bugz Bunny, Road Runner, Taz, Tweety, Sylvester, and more graced the bonnet, with Foghorn Leghorn skilfully driving, and Porky Pig bringing up the rear’ concludes Steph.
Craig Tiley, Managing Director, Signs Express Stoke picks up the story. ‘It’s always great fun creating a design for this annual event. It’s a three-way process between us, ASHBROOK, and the Young Farmers to ensure that all needs are met. The design must be engaging, yet practical so that the tractor can rejoin the ASHBROOK tractor-hire fleet after the event’.
‘We print the design onto high-quality Alron wrap for the bonnet so that it stands the test of time, working hard in the fields of the UK, and contra vision on the windows so that the view through them is not impaired in any way’.
‘On the day of the wrap, it’s always nail-biting bringing the designs, so carefully constructed in the design software, into the real world, but fortunately, we have plenty of experience and Congleton Young Farmers, and ASHBROOK have always been really pleased with the outcome’.
‘My all-time favourite design has to be the Buzz Lightyear tractor created in 2017, but I think this one comes a strong second place’, concludes Craig.
John Nixon, Chairman for Congleton Young Farmers adds, ‘we’re always really grateful for the support from ASHBROOK and the skill from Signs Express which creates a tractor to complement our float so well. Many hours of hard work go into making our float and this year was no exception. The float is all our own work and the only element judged in the competition, but it’s great fun having a matching tractor!’
‘We’re really pleased to say that we came fourth this year and we look forward to seeing Foghorn Leghorn and his pals being driven around the county in the year to come’.
‘That’s all folks’ finishes Porky Pig!
