On-site capabilities

With a rated payload of 31 tons (28,100kgs) and a heaped capacity of 18.8m3, this high-spec dump truck will get the job done.  It’s a next-generation model which builds on the positives of the previous iteration and comes with up to 50% less operator input needed.

This articulated dump truck for hire comes with advanced automatic traction control (AATC) which means that the operator does not need to think about when and where to engage either diff lock.  The operation of the AATC has been expertly tested to be smooth and seamless, eliminating wheel slip and giving the machine maximum traction and, consequently, productivity.  Making for a much better operator experience.

In addition, wide floatation tyres will keep you moving and help protect the soil structure.

Automatic Controls

Like its sister vehicle the Cat 725, this dump truck has improved machine safety and reduced cycle times are delivered through the use of the automatic retarder control (ARC).  The purpose of which is to help to eliminate engine overspeed.  This clever piece of design technology ensures that the engine compression brake is automatically engaged to control machine speed when descending a grade.  Operator input isn’t eliminated entirely as they have the flexibility of manual control if necessary.

The Assisted Hoisting Control, which is new to the next-generation range of dump trucks, means that the tipping of the dump body can be done automatically.  At the push of a button, the entire tipping sequence is done for the operator, everything from applying the brakes to raising the body and even the reverse action.

Hill Assist is an excellent safety feature and eliminates the risk of roll-back on grades.  It ensures that if the operator were to lift their foot off the service brake, the machine will automatically hold the service brake in place to prevent it from rolling backwards.

In addition, the waiting brake applies the service brakes when the neutral gear is selected.  Another handy safety feature which ensures easy control of the machine at the load or dump area and helps to reduce operator fatigue.

The engine in the Cat 730 articulated dump truck

Site emissions are kept to a minimum with the use of an EU Stage V Cat engine.  It has a proven mix of air, fuel, electronic and after-treatment components to keep it on track.  In addition, the Cat 730 also delivers better fuel economy through advanced MEUI-C injector platforms which deliver increased pressures, more precise fuel rates and enhanced responsiveness.  Great for the budget, environment, and operator experience.

The Cat CX31 transmission housed in this articulated dump truck has six-speed forward motion and single reverse.  In addition, it features an Advanced Productivity Electronic Control Strategy (APECS) and Electronic Clutch Pressure Control (ECPC).  The purpose of which is to come together to deliver smooth gear changes with improved acceleration and higher productivity versus previous models.

Operator comfort

Tested by operators from around the globe, Cat knows how to do a ‘comfy cab’ and the cab on the 730 dump truck is no exception.  Controls and gauges are simple having been specifically designed to be straightforward to use and easy to read, no matter what the operator’s level of experience.

Within easy reach, you’ll find the dash-mounted touchscreen display which has been updated.  This allows the operator to monitor and manage various elements of the machine’s performance.  These include operator and machine totals, configuration settings, stability assist, various machine status parameters, and the video feed from the rear-view camera.

The spacious cab provides a comfortable working space for two people.  In addition, the new air suspension seat gives an increased adjustment range.  This includes fore/aft isolation which has the effect of greatly reducing horizontal vibrations and jolts.  Thus, giving a more comfortable position for the operator to work in.

A final improvement is the automatic climate control system which gives the operator the option to maintain the temperature to their desired level.
